What we publish

Wood Intelligence is an independent open platform. We publish modelled service-life estimates, validation results, research briefs, insights and fact-checks about wood in exterior use.

We do not publish product reviews, supplier rankings or purchasing recommendations. Trade names appear only as factual examples where a named material is required to describe a documented case or standard.

Evidence requirements

Every published claim must be traceable to one of three source types: a European standard (for example EN 335, EN 350, EN 460), a peer-reviewed publication or documented field data, or an output of a versioned Wood Intelligence method with its parameters stated.

Claims that cannot be attributed to one of those sources are not published. Superlatives and unquantified performance statements are removed in review.

Model output is labelled as model output

Service-life figures produced by the method WI-SL are modelled estimates, not measured reality. They are always published with their method version, calibration version and P10/P50/P90 uncertainty band.

Where model output is compared against field observations, the validation set (WI-VAL) and its case count are stated alongside the comparison.

Review process

Drafts are checked against the source list, the method specification and this policy before publication. Fact-check submissions follow the same path: intake, source review, verdict drafting, publication in the public register.

Verdicts use four levels — verified, partially verified, not verified, insufficient data — and each verdict lists the sources it rests on.

Response times

Press enquiries are answered within two working days. Fact-check submissions receive an acknowledgement immediately and a first verdict within three working days for claims that can be checked against our indexed standards and validation data. Complex or novel claims take longer, and we say so in writing.

Where a claim cannot be resolved with available evidence, we publish it as insufficient data rather than leaving it open.

Independence and funding

Wood Intelligence was initiated and is funded by SiOO:X Wood Protection. The funder has no influence over methods, data, validation results, editorial content or fact-check verdicts, and does not review material before publication.

The platform is not a certification body, not an accredited test house and not a research institute. Method specifications and validation data are published openly so that results can be reproduced and challenged.

Corrections

If you find an error, send the page, the statement and your evidence through the press form or the fact-check form. Substantive corrections are made in the source page and noted with the date of the change; method changes are released as a new version number rather than edited silently.
