WI-TWIN is a screening simulation built on the WI-SL factor-method equations. It is not a hygrothermal (heat, air and moisture transport) calculation to EN 15026 / WUFI, and must not be used as a substitute for one in a real building-physics assessment.
Base method
WI-TWIN v1.0.0 (released 2026-08-01), built on WI-SL v1.2.0 — see /method for the underlying equations.
Limitations
- Yearly risk curves are derived from a single-point WI-SL service-life estimate via a declared logistic hazard-accumulation heuristic. They are not the output of a time-stepped moisture-content or decay model.
- Exposure classification (sheltered/moderate/fully-exposed) from storeys, overhang and ground clearance is a WoodIntel screening rule, not a wind- or driving-rain-index calculation for the specific building.
- Detailing quality is a single three-point scale; it does not capture assembly-specific junctions, penetrations or workmanship variance.
- Facade orientation is reduced to WI-SL's four buckets (north / south / east-west / horizontal) — east and west facades receive identical loads, which understates any real asymmetry from prevailing wind or sun path.
- The maintenance schedule shown is the user-declared interval, not a model-optimised one; compare it against the WI-SL modelled maintenance interval reported per facade.
- Inherits every WI-SL and WI-CAL limitation unchanged (see /method) — including that resistance profiles are ordinal, not measured, and that climate inputs are zone-level.
